American DJ Kaskade has been voted Best DJ for 2013 by electronic music website the DJ Times. Kaskade also won in 2011, making him the first person to receive the honor twice in the 8 years since it was first created. He beat out other popular entertainers, including Diplo, Skrillex and Bassnectar, which is impressive considering just how successful all of those performers have been in the past year.
Kaskade, though based in Los Angeles, has been a staple of the Las Vegas circuit recently, an extremely important part of the electronic music world where many DJs rise to prominence. He will receive his award at the ABDJ Award Ceremony/Closing Party, to be held in Vegas on October 13.
"Words can't do justice to how completely grateful I am to receive this honor for a second time," Kaskade told the DJ Times. "I am constantly in awe of the love, encouragement, and energy I receive from my fanbase, which has continued to inspire and motivate me throughout my career."
The Best DJ Award is determined by online and in-person voting at 20 clubs and concert venues throughout the country. Last year's winner, Markus Schulz, was not in the top 10 this year, nor was Tiesto or Calvin Harris, both dubbed by Forbes to be the highest-earning DJs in the world.
