The B-52 SPF-18A and SPF-1818A are designed for large permanent
installation venues. They combine the advantage of a long throw folded
horn design with the power and reliability of B-52's digital
amplification. A 24 dB / octave electronic crossover, compressor and
hard limiter are built into the amplifier allowing these subwoofers to
easily patch into an existing system with just pair of full-range XLR
input cables! These cabinets are built using 13-ply Baltic birch,
scratch-resistant paint, will withstand the abuse of the road and can be
used as dance platforms!
SPF-18A
18” ACTIVE FOLDED HORN SUBWOOFER
The B-52 SPF-18A is powered by our award-winning 1200-watt digital
amplifier. The 6 lbs amplifier has the ability to power a secondary
passive subwoofer - the SPF-18S. The SPF-18A includes all the features
needed in an active subwoofer: 24 dB / octave electronic crossover, a
compressor/ limiter, subsonic filter, phase switch and both full-range
and high-pass outputs.

SPF-18S
18” PASSIVE FOLDED HORN SUBWOOFER
The B-52 SPF-18S is a passive version of the SPF-18A that utilizes the
same B-52 18-200L, 4” voice coiled 1000-watt subwoofer. It can be
powered by the SPF-18A (using the Neutriktm Speakon output on the
SPF-18A amplifier) or via a conventional rack-mount amplifier. It
features a solid Birch construction, tilt-back handles and 4” casters.
B-52 18-200L 18” Subwoofer
The B-52 18-200L 18” subwoofer features a cast-aluminum frame, 200 oz
magnet structure, a bumped back plate for greater excursion and a 4”
dual-layered tempered-aluminum voice coil. The voice coil is wound with
4 layers of 26-gauge copper wire, optimally sized for this motor.
THE DIGITAL DOMAIN
The lightweight digital amplifier is more than 93% efficient, draws less
power than conventional amplifiers and therefore generates less heat.
Less heat translates to longer device life, more efficient operation and
unparalleled reliability.
ELECTRICAL DRAW
B-52’S digital amplifier draw less than 12 amps of electricity at full
volume. So whether you’re throwing a party near a nuclear power plant,
or a house party with only a 15 amp breaker, the SPF-18A or SPF-1818A
can be plugged in virtually anywhere without the risk of popping a
circuit breaker.
18” SUBWOOFER
The B-52 18-200L 18” subwoofer features a
cast-aluminum frame, 200 oz magnet structure, a bumped back plate for
greater excursion and a 4” dual-layered tempered-aluminum voice coil.
The voice coil is wound with 4 layers of 26-gauge copper wire, optimally
sized for this motor.
CABINET CONSTRUCTION
The SPF18A and SPF-18S cabinest are built for the abuse of the road and
to stand-up to the pounding club scene for installation. These subs are
constructed with 13-ply Baltic birch and are backed by our unequalled
warranty.
COMPRESSION CHAMBER
The SPF-18A and SPF-18S cabinets house a compression chamber that
minimizes the excursion of the driver while maximizing the subwoofer’s
output. The optimally-sized acoustic aperture of the compression chamber
forms the throat of the horn and helps force air at an increased
velocity and pressure. The compression chamber optimizes the horn’s
output, allowing the the subwoofer to achieve amazing and unprecedented
output levels.
