The Audio-Technica Pro Series PRO-DRUM7 is a seven-piece bundle for miking drums. It includes seven microphones, with which you can mic your snare, kick, toms, and overheads. As such, it's suitable for miking drum kits in live-sound and recording scenarios.

Included in this kit are the PRO 25ax hypercardioid dynamic instrument mic, the PRO 63 dynamic mic for your snare, two AT2021 small diaphragm condenser microphones for your overheads, and three PRO 23 microphones for toms. Also included is a carrying case with accessories, including the AT8665 drum mount.

Audio-Technica PRO 25ax Hypercardioid Dynamic Instrument Microphone
The Audio-Technica PRO 25ax is a dynamic instrument microphone with a hypercardioid polar pattern designed for capturing kick drum, percussion, brass, bass cabinets, and other highly dynamic instruments. Tailored for instruments with high SPL response, the PRO 25ax is capable of reproducing transient audio peaks and excessively high levels at close proximity without noise and distortion.

The microphone delivers a warm low-frequency response with excellent presence. The hypercardioid pattern is most effective in minimizing noise and audio at the off-axis sections of the capsule. The pattern is effective in minimizing "leaks" from adjacent signal sources or feedback caused by nearby monitors or speakers. The PRO 25ax includes an isolation clamp to provide secure mounting, versatile positioning, and effective dampening of unwanted mechanical noise and a soft protective case.

The hypercardioid polar pattern is most effective in rejecting off-axis noise caused by ambiance, adjacent instruments, and monitors.

Audio-Technica PRO 63 Cardioid Dynamic Microphone
The Audio-Technica PRO 63 is a general-purpose handheld microphone designed for instrument or vocal capturing in recording or sound-reinforcement applications. The cardioid dynamic capsule features a neodymium magnet that provides high output levels while maintaining a low noise floor.

The tailored frequency response of 70 Hz to 16 kHz eliminates low-frequency noise and enhances midrange and high frequencies. The result is greater intelligibility while capturing vocals and enhanced detail when capturing instruments. The cardioid polar pattern is effective in minimizing ambiance and off-axis noise and allows use of nearby monitors and adjacent instruments with minimal leakage or feedback. The rugged enclosure features a two-stage, ball-type headcase for that provides superior "pop" filtering and wind-noise reduction.

The PRO 63 ships with a 15' XLR cable, a mic clip, and a soft protective pouch.

Neodymium Magnet
The PRO 63 features a neodymium magnet on the output stage. The neodymium magnet provides high output gain levels while maintaining a low noise floor.
Contoured Frequency Response

The AT2021 Cardioid Condenser Microphone from Audio-Technica is designed for general instrument capturing, vocals, amplifier cabinets, and similar applications. There is an extended frequency response, providing versatility both in the studio and on stage. Audio-Technica PRO 23 Cardioid Dynamic Instrument Microphone
Designed for snare drums and tom toms, the Audio-Technica PRO 23 is a dynamic microphone with a low-profile design. This design allows you to place the microphone close to the drum without getting in the drummer's way, and therefore, is suitable for both live and recording scenarios.

The PRO 23 offers an integrated mount that, when coupled with the included AT8665, allows you to position the mic on the rim of the drum; this makes the whole affair rather convenient in touring scenarios. An all metal construction adds to the durability.

On to the properties of the mic itself, then, which include a frequency response of 100 Hz to 12 kHz, as well as a construction designed to handle both fast transients and high SPLs. The dynamic capsule provides a cardioid polar pattern, so that you may position the mic to reject sounds you wouldn't want, such as the hi-hat (when miking the snare), or the snare (when miking the toms). A soft carry-pouch is included with the PRO 23.
